Duke University’s 85-81 overtime loss to the University of Kansas Sunday night meant more than just one of the nation’s top teams getting abruptly knocked out of the NCAA Tournament. It signaled the official end to the collegiate career of the most polarizing figure in amateur sports, Grayson Allen.
The first weekend of March Madness left basketball fans soaking up upset after upset like a Boston University student in Florida during spring break. With some of the nation’s best teams sent packing, only one clear favorite has survived to the Sweet 16: the Duke University Blue Devils.
We call it March Madness for a reason. The 64-team tournament that frequently produces upsets, Cinderella stories and teams with an “us against the world” mentality is undoubtedly mad, but that doesn’t mean that it’s good.
Although my personal favorite team — the University of California, Irvine Anteaters — didn’t make it to the “Big Dance” once again, I took the time to fill out my own bracket. Here are the four teams I have selected to make up this year’s Final Four.
