While Northampton City Council is considering a resolution to declare the city a “sanctuary” for transgender and gender-diverse individuals, Boston has yet to take formal steps to pass a similar measure. However, Boston officials have made efforts to protect and support the LGBTQ+ community in other ways.

Hopefully, Boston and the White House recognizing Transgender Day of Visibility is the first step in the right direction to progress transgender rights in this country.

Boston University soft launched the LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center on Wednesday, after the student task force recommended creating a professionally staffed resource center for students.
