The Boston University ResLife Union reached a tentative agreement for its first union contract with the University at its bargaining session on Tuesday.

An RA signed her contract for the following year. Then, she was fired. Guensly Desir was all set to RA for the 2023-24 academic year. That was until she got fired less than a week before the semester started due to the enforcement of a GPA policy.

On Monday, Boston University Student Government heard a presentation from BU staff about the updated class registration system, discussed the BU “Vote!” Initiative and endorsed a resolution proposed by the BU Graduate Worker Union.

‘They don’t know who we are’: Part-time faculty union advocates for better treatment from BU

Part-time faculty consists of adjuncts, lecturers and instructors. Collectively, part-time faculty unionized in 2015 and are still raising awareness about their current job instability, low wages and lack of institutional support as they feel that BU is unresponsive to their needs.
