REVIEW: Jason Reitman’s ‘Saturday Night’ thrives on atmosphere, stumbles with depth

Rachel Bernstein October 16, 2024
Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night” captures the chaotic 90 minutes leading up to the premiere of “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 11, 1975. Though the film skillfully captures the atmosphere of the ‘70s with its 16mm style and talented cast, it ultimately fails to provide both the depth of the creation of the show and the intrigue of “SNL” original cast members.

Lea Rivel February 1, 2024
When we hear the word “babygirl,” we do not often think of such traditionally masculine-presenting people. That’s because the concept involves so much more than that. It’s a silly and lighthearted term, but that’s nothing new to internet culture.

Miss Leading: Cardi B really does make money moves

Namu Sampath April 9, 2018
During my daily morning scroll on social media, I learned that Cardi B announced her pregnancy on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend while performing her new song “Be Careful.” Cardi B, who rose to fame after releasing “Bodak Yellow,” has since been inspiring women everywhere. When the song came out, I honestly did not think that I would be sitting here writing an article about how empowering I think she is as an artist. However, in the last 10 months, Cardi’s career has skyrocketed, mostly because of her eccentric personality and her hustler female attitude.
