Boston University President Robert Brown announced in an email to Class of 2021 January graduates Monday that they are now invited to attend the in-person commencement ceremony in May, following numerous complaints from parents and students.

Group condemns BU Dining for contract with Aramark

A group called “Expose BU” has taken aim at Boston University Dining Services and their ongoing affiliation with Aramark, a food supply company that caters for corporate events and several universities in Boston. The group staged a protest Thursday afternoon at the George Sherman Union, featuring a modest turnout and some chanting.

New bill could prevent jail time for relapse in Massachusetts

A bill before the Massachusetts Legislature could prevent people with substance use disorder from being sent to jail only for relapsing. If the bill is enacted, people diagnosed with substance use disorder who are on probation or are pretrial would be diverted to treatment and prohibited from being drug-tested.

City approves Yawkey Way name change due to supposed connections to racism

The Boston Public Improvement Commission unanimously voted Thursday morning to return Yawkey Way to its original name, Jersey Street, due a city-wide discussion over former Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey’s supposed racist history.

Gov. Charlie Baker signed a bill Friday that will overhaul the criminal justice system in the Commonwealth, despite his concerns with the legislation. To address those concerns, he filed another bill to modify the legislation.

Naloxone prices increase for first responders

For first responders, the opioid overdose-reversing drug naloxone is more expensive than it has been in years. This past fall, a state fund discounting naloxone for first responders depleted, doubling the price of Narcan — a brand name of naloxone nasal spray — to $71 per box of two units for police and fire departments across the state.
