Mayor Michelle Wu testified before Congress Wednesday in a hearing by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to scrutinize municipalities that practice sanctuary city policies.
While Northampton City Council is considering a resolution to declare the city a “sanctuary” for transgender and gender-diverse individuals, Boston has yet to take formal steps to pass a similar measure. However, Boston officials have made efforts to protect and support the LGBTQ+ community in other ways.
At 21, he joined Boston’s Laborers Local 223 Union, maintaining active involvement for over 20 years. Now, the 53-year-old is being pulled to D.C., where he awaits a likely confirmation as President Joe Biden’s Secretary of Labor.
Around 400 people gathered Sunday for a community Seder hosted by the Anti-Defamation League at the University of Massachusetts Boston Campus Center. Every year, the ADL organizes this community event for the city of Boston to discuss various issues surrounding immigration.
