Part-time faculty consists of adjuncts, lecturers and instructors. Collectively, part-time faculty unionized in 2015 and are still raising awareness about their current job instability, low wages and lack of institutional support as they feel that BU is unresponsive to their needs.
Cars, pedestrians and bikers took to Commonwealth Avenue Thursday afternoon to rally against BU’s reopening plan. Those who weren’t present in person tuned into the multimodal event via Zoom.
Boston University is currently negotiating a new contract with adjunct faculty and their representative union, Service Employees International Union Local 509, after their three-year contract initially expired in August, a union representative said.
