In times of crisis, nothing beats finding people you can lean on and commiserate with. The COVID-19 pandemic has showcased who our true friends are, taught us how to deal with interpersonal conflict and reminded us to be mindful of others.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating on many fronts, it has hopefully compelled people to be more mindful about their individual choices and impacts. This newfound urgency and self-agency can help us make inroads in solving other pressing issues.
As a consequence of being more open and understanding of students’ workloads — and perhaps in the future, being able to pay them — school newspapers can outgrow the journalism industry by being more inclusive and equitable.
Time is a valuable resource. The only lifelong activity we should be pursuing — with no fear of wasting time — is learning, and “it takes the whole of life to learn how to live.”

We need a serious re-evaluation and shifting of our cultural priorities. We must also destigmatize staying up late while being careful not to romanticize it. Otherwise, we risk enabling a cycle of staying up late and waking up early — i.e., not getting enough sleep.
Universities need to prioritize civic engagement over traditional testing requirements. To do so, service learning needs to be intertwined with academic requirements as to not add to the amount of work we already face.
