New air circulators to boost air flow in classrooms

Air circulators will be installed in classrooms at BU that don’t have an effective HVAC system, according to a memo sent to COM faculty.

Students in two of COM Prof. Peter Smith’s journalism classes circulated a petition saying his reporting assignments required in-person interviews that could put them at-risk of the coronavirus, but Smith says he only gave students the option to conduct in-person interviews if they felt comfortable and observed social distancing rules. Last week, students in two journalism courses sent Mariette DiChristina, dean of the College of Communication, a petition. Their complaints concerned assignments given to them by their professor, Peter Smith, that encouraged in-person reporting.

COM to eliminate most computer labs, institute Bring Your Own Device policy

Starting in September, the Boston University College of Communication will be switching to a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, which will involve getting rid of most of the computer labs in COM.
