Restaurants on campus reflect on changes post-pandemic

When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in March 2020, Noodle Street Manager Chris Chan started sewing face masks for his employees out of his own cut-up clothes. Noodle Street, located on Boston University’s East Campus, had been serving customers for over two decades until the pandemic forced it to close for six months. It joined the 44% of Massachusetts small businesses in the area that closed amidst strict lockdown policies.

New BU Politics and Health Lab monitors the influence of politics on public health decisions

The intersections between politics and health have become blurred between fact and political opinion. A new research lab at Boston University’s School of Public Health is exploring the relationship between the two.  The Politics and Health Lab, led by co-directors Timothy Callaghan and Matt Motta, officially went live Jan. 27, but planning began spring 2023.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, fears of another widespread outbreak occurring linger — and a recent surge in bird flu cases in Massachusetts is adding to those concerns.

North Carolina residents are facing unprecedented destruction and loss in the wake of Hurricane Helene. In response, students in Boston University’s Crowdfunding and Distribution class launched a crowdfunding campaign on Nov. 14 to support those impacted.

A couple weeks ago, Gov. Ron DeSantis came out with new COVID-19 vaccine guidelines for Florida residents: Anyone under 65 shouldn’t get the new booster. DeSantis’ suggestion is a striking contrast to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines that recommended everyone over six months old should get the booster.
