The Seattle Kraken is the last remaining team in the NHL without a captain. Even Utah Hockey Club, the team that hasn’t existed for more than six months, just named tenured forward Clayton Keller as the first captain in its franchise history last Friday.

The 2024-25 National Hockey League season is sliding in fast, and there are some interesting threads to follow as the season unfolds. After all, hockey is more fun when you know what you’re watching for.

Hockey players need their own moment in the spotlight. Netflix recently announced “Receiver,” the sequel to its popular series “Quarterback” which followed around three NFL quarterbacks for a behind-the-scenes look into their lives, and a docu-series about the 2024 Boston Red Sox. I now need the NHL to get its own reality show.
