At the end of the day Rat City is not Atlantis. It has its woes. Come to think of it, Atlantis probably has its issues — that patriarchal leadership and all. While I was away, I forgot about the trials and tribulations of taking my three reusable bags full of groceries — that really should have been four — onto the crowded bus. 

“The Memory Police” by Yoko Ogawa takes the thread of forgetting and spins it into a poignant novel about memory—the story eloquently captures the reality of moving forward, continuing forward, which isn’t always rainbows and butterflies.

I’d rather be confused by a meandering film that seems to stumble onto its feeling, than understand a story suffocated by its structure.

Slated for Sept. 7-11, the event will bring Medal of Honor recipients into the city, where they will visit with public school students, participate in events and then attend the dinner.
