We can’t all be Cher — but that shouldn’t stop musicians from trying | Dancing with Myself

Josh Rosenthal April 8, 2025
During a recent late-night Wikipedia dive, I was surprised to learn that Charli XCX — fresh off the massive recognition of “Brat” — has not one, not two, not three but seven appearances in films set to be released in the near future. These upcoming projects include fantasy film “100 Nights of Hero” and erotic thriller “I Want Your Sex” from queer icon Gregg Araki. She’ll also appear in “The Gallerist,” which features the likes of Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega.

Music to help you reset over spring break | Liv Listens

Olivia Stapleton March 6, 2025
Whether you're traveling somewhere warm, heading home or staying in Boston, I want to encourage everyone — no matter how busy you might still be — to take spring break as an opportunity to do the same as me and take some time for yourself. I’ve picked some relaxing songs with spring vibes to get into that fresh start and warmer weather mindset.

Rocking out has gotten out of hand | Mad Women

Hailey Pitcher February 28, 2025
Fainting incidents aren’t all that uncommon anymore. But were concerts always such high-tension events? In recent years, concert etiquette has declined. There has been a noticeable increase in the amount of attendees fainting and falling ill during concerts following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Navigating different friendship dynamics through music | Liv Listens

Olivia Stapleton October 16, 2024
When I was growing up, my parents would tell me that boyfriends would come and go, but friends would last forever.  Now that I’m older, I don’t entirely agree with that statement. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, or maybe it’s because I’ve had my fair share of bad friends. So, I’d modify their advice slightly: When you find the right people, true friendship can be the most incredible thing.

Curing fall feels and friend troubles | Liv Listens

Olivia Stapleton October 3, 2024
Fighting with a friend might be one of the worst feelings. Even if it's not a full-blown argument and things are just a little off, it doesn't negate the fact that there are people in our lives that we feel comfortable confiding in. Being unable to talk to them can feel isolating. I usually turn to sad music when I feel alone, but I will resist the urge to only recommend sad songs for this occasion — warm and cozy songs, artists and albums can do the trick, too.

Music to soothe September stress | Liv Listens

Olivia Stapleton September 18, 2024
It’s already September, and while Boston’s weather might not have caught up just yet, fall is on the horizon. September is overwhelming, regardless of the temperature. I start sweating just thinking about opening my Google Calendar during this time of year. Classes have begun and club meetings are ramping up. I looked ahead yesterday — even though I probably shouldn’t have — and my first midterm is less than three weeks away.

Breaking up with stan culture

Lea Rivel March 22, 2024
Falling out of love sucks, and no, I don’t mean with a significant other or a friend. I’m talking about falling out of love with celebrities you once worshiped. Throughout the past year or so, the facade surrounding some of my favorite singers and celebrities has fallen, which caused me to re-examine the way that I interact with the music and media that I consume.

Olivia Wilde and the ‘Bad Director’ Complex | On The Record

Addison Schmidt October 6, 2022
It’s hard to imagine Olivia Wilde’s wrongs are any worse than the slew of problematic directors who came before her. The only reason for this excessive criticism is that she’s the rare kind of woman in the public eye who took her shot when the opportunity presented itself.
