These period pieces should be taken with a grain of salt. While the clothes and houses may look pretty, unethically using and enslaving people certainly is not.

Creator of petition to rename Rhett denied position in mascot committee

The BU alumnus who created a petition to change the name of the school’s mascot, Rhett, was invited to serve on the committee to consider the matter. After a correspondence with President Robert Brown, during which the alum refused to take down his petition, he was denied a seat.

BU community responds to potential renaming of mascot Rhett the Terrier

After receiving criticism for naming its mascot after the depiction of a character in a racist film, Boston University has appointed a committee to consider renaming Rhett the Terrier, President Robert Brown announced in an email Wednesday.
