Boston Pride For The People hosted the city’s first pride celebration in three years on June 10, 2023. Thousands of people showed up for festivities including a parade and two festivals — one family-friendly and one for ages 21 and over.

Boston University celebrated graduating LGBTQ+ seniors in the second annual Lavender ceremony and reception organized by the Queer Activist Collective and BU’s LGBTQIA+ Faculty & Staff Community Network on May 20. A Lavender graduation, started at the University of Michigan in 1995, honors marginalized students’ achievements and contributions to the school, according to the Human Rights Campaign.

Boston University class of 2023 had their commencement ceremony in Nickerson Field last Sunday amid controversy around the speaker, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav. The Writers Guild of America protested outside the event while several students booed Zaslav during his speech.
