Mayor Michelle Wu and the City’s Latinx Employee Resource Group kicked off the City’s celebration of National Latinx Heritage Month with a party at City Hall Plaza on Tuesday evening, with music, dancing, food and resources for Boston's Latinx community.
The City of Boston will no longer require residents to disclose their sex or gender on marriage license applications, a change made in accordance with new gender-aware guidelines launched on Aug. 29 that seek to be more gender inclusive.

For The Daily Free Press’ Board of Directors, Spring 2021 was a semester marked by a vast fundraising effort, continued efforts to improve the diversity of our staff, and work to further connect our community. Working remotely with the addition of four new members from our Fall 2020 Editorial Board, the Board met weekly to discuss all things FreeP-related.
As a consequence of being more open and understanding of students’ workloads — and perhaps in the future, being able to pay them — school newspapers can outgrow the journalism industry by being more inclusive and equitable.
