Ask Abby (Or Analise): Why your partner isn’t your therapist — and thank goodness for that

Analise Bruno March 24, 2025
Mental health also looks different for everyone. Sometimes, your struggle could come off as being dismissive or moody to outsiders who aren’t aware of your situation. Being as open as you’re comfortable will only allow your relationships, romantic and not, to prosper.

Sour truths, bitter lies: Review of Netflix’s ‘Apple Cider Vinegar’

Samantha Genzer March 7, 2025
Gibson isn’t just evil for the sake of it — she is a master manipulator who believes in her own lies just enough to make them convincing. You don’t sympathize with her, but by the end of the series, you do understand how she managed to fool so many people.

The classic holdover: A spring break away from home

Ananya Swaroop March 4, 2025
Maybe I’ll wake up without an alarm, make a good breakfast, take a relaxing bath and tick off things from my spring break bucket list. Of course, there will be moments where I’ll wish I was home, but I’ll remind myself that I’ll be okay. And above all, I’ll take it one day at a time.

‘A Complete Unknown’ keeps Bob Dylan a mystery

Ruby Voge February 7, 2025
The film’s title, “A Complete Unknown,” serves as a guide for how it approaches its subject material. Mangold’s script works to uphold the mythology of Dylan as an unknowable artist — who, from the beginning, was reluctant to be defined by others and by himself.

January horror recap: “The Damned,” “Wolf Man” and “Presence” | You Scared Me!

Josh Rosenthal January 29, 2025
As our world becomes increasingly horrifying in new and unfathomable ways, there is no better time than now for horror to help us seek out a distraction from them. Unfortunately, this January’s releases have not provided as helpful of a distraction as I had hoped for — except for one film from one of my favorite directors that presented a fresh take on the traditional haunted house story.

Suddenly I see! Andy Sachs is who I want to be

Andrew DiBiasio November 7, 2023
Picking out a movie to watch is like choosing what to have for dinner — there’s always that constant deflection of “No, you pick,” and the never ceasing question of, “What are you in the mood for?” Thankfully, that process has matured the more I listen to my best friend, who is a cinema and media studies major — and she’s got classics by the book. At the top of her list was “The Devil Wears Prada.”

‘Twilight’ still holds up

Ayjia Stanford November 1, 2023
Since the genesis of my “Twilight” awakening, I have seen the film upwards of 10 times. I watched it most frequently as a kid, but for the past few years, it’s served as a welcomed respite from the stress of work and school, transporting me back to my childhood. So when I saw the Coolidge Corner Theater was showing “Twilight” on Oct. 19, I knew I had to go.

REVIEW: Only time will tell if ‘Dune’ was a flop or fail

Seamus Webster October 26, 2021
While director Denis Villeneuve attempts to balance the drama of Frank Herbert’s “Dune” novel with the flair expected of a box office hit, the film’s dialogue and stiff performances leave something to be desired.

Why reality TV shows calm me down

Grace Knoop March 12, 2021
Reality TV is definitely not reality, but that’s why I find it so comforting. Nothing in my day-to-day life resembles what I see on reality TV, and I can, without a doubt, turn on the TV to escape my reality.
