BU professor fired for harassment charges

Boston University administrators announced Friday the termination of David Marchant, a former geology professor who was found to have sexually harassed a female graduate student on a research trip to Antarctica in 1999.

Marchant Glacier in Antarctica, originally named for Boston University Earth and environment professor David Marchant, has been renamed in wake of findings that Marchant sexually harassed students.
It was announced in October of last year that Wheelock College would merge with BU’s School of Education to form the new Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at BU.
