Legislature debates bills to curb handheld device use while driving

The Massachusetts Legislature will begin debating several bills that would ban drivers from operating their vehicles while holding a mobile device and require people instead to use hands-free devices to talk on their phones while driving.

MBTA overwhelmed by parade-goers

Greater Boston’s public transportation system was overwhelmed Tuesday as hundreds of thousands of fans packed onto MBTA trains to attend the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl victory parade, setting what is believed to be a record-high level of ridership for the system.
