Boston City Council orders hearing to discuss reinvigorating local taxi industry

Boston City Council approved a hearing in its Feb. 1 weekly meeting that will examine initiatives to rejuvenate Boston’s taxi industry, which has suffered tremendously with the rise of ride-share apps like Uber and Lyft, according to city officials.

Ultimately, a city that prioritizes cars over people on mechanical wheels or on foot doesn’t allow pedestrians to enjoy the full extent of their city. Perhaps that’s a good thing in a time of a pandemic, but it just makes the morning commute all the more depressing.
