Recently, I had a friend tell me she was interested in listening to Phoebe Bridgers. If you haven’t been living under a rock, chances are that you’ve at least heard of her before. However, if you’ve never gotten around to listening, that’s okay, because I’m here to help.

I am officially a 20-year-old. Light the candles, pop the sparkling cider. A new chapter has begun. Many people say that this will be the best decade of my life. 

When I was growing up, my parents would tell me that boyfriends would come and go, but friends would last forever.  Now that I’m older, I don’t entirely agree with that statement. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, or maybe it’s because I’ve had my fair share of bad friends. So, I’d modify their advice slightly: When you find the right people, true friendship can be the most incredible thing. 

For the last edition of Liv Listens, I wrote about songs I listen to when I go for walks to clear my head. This week, I’ve been cooped up in my dorm, trying to get homework done while ignoring how sluggish the cloudy weather has been making me feel.  In weeks like this, I find myself in two moods. The first is a mood in which I desperately want to succumb to the gloomy weather and nap all day. When I feel like this, I listen to slow music, read leisurely, watch “Twilight” and procrastinate doing my work.

Instead of going on a shopping spree for a new wardrobe or making a list of dorm essentials, the first thing I did this past summer was reorganize all my Spotify playlists. Sadly, I put all that effort into making the perfect college soundtrack only to find myself too busy to listen to it.

Music has always been there as a constant and reassuring presence in my life. Today, I'd like to share with you a few of my most treasured and meaningful song lyrics.
