Boston Mayor Wu and the Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement announced the launch of Youth Speaks Boston, the first-ever citywide needs assessment.

The Boston Public Health Commission warned residents on Friday about the presence of cyanobacterial algae blooms in the Charles River, downstream of the Longfellow Bridge, following a public health advisory issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Carney Hospital in Dorchester closed its doors for the final time on Aug. 31 after its owner, Steward Health Care, filed for bankruptcy in May. Steward announced in late July that the for-profit healthcare network will close two hospitals: Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer.
