For over three decades, Massachusetts-based animal portrait photographer Fred Levy has been capturing stunning portraits, but it wasn’t until he stumbled upon the phenomenon of “black dog syndrome” that his work took a new, purposeful direction.

Decreases in animal availability have come as the demand for adoptions increased with the pandemic.

The annual Alternative Service Breaks program through the Community Service Center at BU is continuing virtually over three weekends in place of their usual spring break trips around the nation — serving organizations remotely in the Greater Boston Area and beyond.
