Local election officials announced the presidential election results for Massachusetts shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday, but this outcome will not be official for nearly two weeks.
A coalition of voters’ rights advocacy groups helped fill all poll worker positions in Massachusetts Tuesday, following concerns the pandemic would exacerbate poll worker shortages typically prevalent in election years.
Of the 122 ballots in the box, 87 were legible and able to be processed. Voters who used the drop box between 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 4 a.m. on Sunday should contact the Election Department to check the status of their ballot.
Massachusetts residents who die after voting early in this year’s election will still have their ballots counted. The temporary law will make tallying more efficent, so results should be ready by the night of the election.
