Trump’s reelection calls for a new era of feminism | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman November 14, 2024
Women are acknowledging that there is no future population without themselves. Should they choose not to reproduce or partake in heterosexual relations, that future could be a mere reality.

Workaholism isn’t sustainable, especially at BU | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman October 30, 2024
Part of what drew me to BU in the first place was its prestige and the ability to set its students up for success. I’ve had the privilege of being part of amazing organizations and taking classes with renowned professors. Indeed, the environment I’m in helped me find direction in what I want to do in life. But I also think it’s crushed me within the confines of career obsession.

I’m ready for it, are you? | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman September 16, 2024
As delighted as I am that women and non-binary individuals are giving Harris an edge in the polls, I can’t help but wonder about what the majority of male voters who support Trump are thinking. It prompts me to ask myself: Is a strong woman in a position of power really so repulsing? Why do men still think this way about women?

Let’s de-normalize self-diagnosing | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman April 17, 2024
What’s dangerous about self-diagnosing, is that it does not always lead to the road of self-improvement. Instead, it may create a comfortable foundation to justify all behaviors without the desire for change or to be held accountable.

Girlhood is undefinable | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman March 20, 2024
It’s understandable why a woman would not want to be defined by the content in Mulvaney’s song. But I’ll emphasize that Mulvaney is a woman through and through, and her journey of girlhood is no less valuable than anyone else’s.

Being a hopeless romantic in the age of hookup culture is devastating | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman February 28, 2024
With how dominant hookup culture is, it feels so wrong to want a love similar to what I read about and see in films. And yet, I continue to hope for what could be because the idea of a great love is more tolerable than living without one.

Let us not forget what we live for | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman February 14, 2024
Because artists of all kinds — whether they be musicians, actors, designers or dancers — are so few, it is their job to be extraordinary for the rest of us who don’t create. This is no easy feat, especially when you are not supported emotionally, physically or financially.

The rise of "Sephora kids" raises questions about Generation Alpha's exposure to influencer culture and concerns about "gentle parenting."

Religion has no place in abortion rights | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman December 8, 2023
Having a uterus is a fatal flaw. Most girls can say this from a devastatingly young age. I know I did. I know my sister did. I know my mom did. There are several reasons as to why having a uterus may lead to one’s downfall — all of which I’d need multiple hands to count on. But not being granted control over your own reproductive organ is dehumanizing and degrading. For as long as those in Congress use religious rhetoric to drive the law of the land, it will remain this way forever.

Travel keeps getting more expensive but still is just as valuable | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman November 28, 2023
I tend to believe that our bedroom theme from when we were little kids is a defining feature of who we are. Growing up, I was one of those little girls who wanted a Paris-themed bedroom. Every time I saw a picture of the Eiffel Tower at HomeGoods or another Paris-themed room while at a playdate, I yearned for mine to look the same.

Fighting for abortion rights is exhausting | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman November 12, 2023
The exhausting struggle for reproductive rights makes it hard to be excited about Ohio Issue 1 because Republicans are already promising to try and reverse it.

What about me? | The Perfectly Imperfect Human Condition

Lillian Chapman October 30, 2023
Recently huge strides have been made in representation for plus-sized women, but in this, "mid-sized" or women between sizes 9-16 have been left behind and deserve to have their bodies represented as well.
